Society & History

One of Disney's greatest hits was released in 1933,The Three Little Pigs! This was a breakthrough in character and provided something of an anthem for fighting the Great Depression. "Whos afraid of the big bad wolf?" many people thought this animated short reflected a lot of the great depression. This cartoon was so popular it sometimes was listed above the feature film on theatre marquees. During World War II The company lost acess to most of its foreign markets. Walt Disney made two films about South America, Saludos Amigos and The Three Caballeros. this was a request of the state department. Walt's studio also concentrated on producing propaganda and training films for the militay. When the war ended it was difficult for Disney Studio to regain its pre-war Footing.
